The Consumer Protection Authority at Al-Dhahirah Governorate organizes a training program in Juidical Seizure

In collaboration with the Public Prosecution Authority, The Consumer Protection Authority at Al-Dhahirah Governorate organized recently a training program in the field of judicial seizure and the evidence gathering stages at the headquarters of the department. The program targeted 22 judicial officers and legal researchers with the objective of providing the employees working at the judicial seizure field with the necessary skills and experiences. The program aimed also to reach the targeted objective; i.e. protecting the consumer and maintaining his rights.

The PACP at Seeb discovers a heinous crime that might have caused disasters to the consumers

The Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP), Seeb Department, managed yesterday 16/11/2014 AD to distrain two violating companies. The first company used to import huge quantities of (powder) milk bearing expiry dates of less than two months and replaces such expiry dates with new dates for longer periods. The total estimated quantity of the seized powder milk is more than one hundred thousand kilograms.

In collaboration with the Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP), Moosa Abdul Rahman Hassan & CO LLC has recently launched a recall campaign for GMC Sierra vehicles model 2014 & 2014 with a total number of 8 vehicles. This step comes as part of the efforts exerted by the PACP in line of its steady keen interest in conducting continuous reviews for all the products offered in the Omani markets with the objective of providing the necessary protection for consumers.

An Accused is convicted for not complying with the Freedom of Choice, Integrity and Credibility Rules

The Primary Court in Saham ruled recently to convict an accused with the felony of not complying with the integrity and credibility rules on dealing with a consumer. In addition, the court ruled to penalize this person by a fine; obligated him to pay the expenses and referred the civil case to the competent department.

It posed fines exceeding 1000 OMR…  Penal Orders convicting and fining violators in Sur

The Public Prosecution has issued recently 16 penal orders convicting and fining accused persons who were referred by the Consumer Protection Department at Sharqiyah South Governorate through the inspection campaigns conducted by the Department in the field of its specialty. The violations varied between exhibiting and selling expired goods, raising the prices without getting an authorization from the competent entity and selling cigarettes not conforming to the specifications and standards.

 No one imagined that greed and deviousness would reach such a staggering level that thought exist only in movies and investigative drama shows , yet it became a stark reality when some merchants sought to make a profit on the account of health and safety of the young and adults alike utilizing the God-given intellect that they posses into destruction and evil instead of serving public good , the devious plan used ( Back to school ) season by carving holes inside books and hiding chewing tobacco inside in away from the inspectors notice targeting the younger generation with these destructive materials that effect the health , mind and safety of our kids .
 The Judicial officers noticed that consumers come very frequently to a specific shop during one of the inspection tours which raised their suspicions to strengthening the monitoring and follow up on that matter , students were spotted in the shop as well , the Officers expediently intervened to inspect the shop , the inspection did not reveal anything at first , however , the officers noticed a stack of books and decided to inspect it , surprisingly , they found more than 600 pouches of chewing tobacco on its way to be sold and distributed on consumers and students , the officers immediately issued a violation and referred the case to the General Prosecution to deal with the matter as per the Law
