PACP concludes training courses on reviewers and scientific research

The Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP) concluded a set of training courses for developing the skills of dealing with reviewers and drafting scientific research. The training courses aimed at upgrading the participants’ skills for upgrading level of cooperation with reviewers and consumers submitting complaints and reports. 


Ford Escape Recall Campaign launched

The Arabian Car Marketing Co, in cooperation with the Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP), launched a recall campaign for Ford Escape models from 2008 to 2011.  The recalled cars of 2008 model amounted to 113; model 2009 amounted to 31; and 2011 model amounted to 5 cars.  


Asian expat fined RO1000 for selling chewed tobacco

A primary court at Jaalan Bani Bu Ali issued a judicial ruling against an Asian expat for violating The Law of Consumer Protection and the ministerial decision no 38/2010 which prohibited importing and selling chewed tobacco. 


994 cases filled by PACP, says semi- annual report

The semi- annual report for the first six months in 2014, collected and released by the Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP) revealed that court cases in which the PACP is a part at the period covered by the report amounted to 994; among which, 289 cases were settled in favor of PACP. 


PACP's Mobile Exhibition lands at Ein Hamran

PACP's Mobile Exhibition for Awareness goes on tours at the tourism destinations at Dhofar Governorate; wide-spreading education on consumer rights and obligations. The mobile exhibition landed at Ein Hamran, where Hilal Al Rashedi, the Awareness Supervisor at the mobile exhibition welcomed all visitors and briefed them on consumer rights basics.

The Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP) at Al Sharqiah North took part in the activities held within the Third Camp for Clubs Youth (TCCY) which is organized by the Ministry of Sports Affairs at the Sports Complex at Sur.

 No one imagined that greed and deviousness would reach such a staggering level that thought exist only in movies and investigative drama shows , yet it became a stark reality when some merchants sought to make a profit on the account of health and safety of the young and adults alike utilizing the God-given intellect that they posses into destruction and evil instead of serving public good , the devious plan used ( Back to school ) season by carving holes inside books and hiding chewing tobacco inside in away from the inspectors notice targeting the younger generation with these destructive materials that effect the health , mind and safety of our kids .
 The Judicial officers noticed that consumers come very frequently to a specific shop during one of the inspection tours which raised their suspicions to strengthening the monitoring and follow up on that matter , students were spotted in the shop as well , the Officers expediently intervened to inspect the shop , the inspection did not reveal anything at first , however , the officers noticed a stack of books and decided to inspect it , surprisingly , they found more than 600 pouches of chewing tobacco on its way to be sold and distributed on consumers and students , the officers immediately issued a violation and referred the case to the General Prosecution to deal with the matter as per the Law
