Consumer Protection, Al Batina North, in cooperation with the Governorate Directorate General of Education, recently organized several awareness lectures for the people in education and students, in order to spread safe consumption culture amongst the communities, and introduce them to their rights as consumers.
The Primary Court, Rustaq, recently issued two verdicts for imprisonment and fines against two violators of the consumer protection law.
The Primary Court in Muscat recently issued a verdict against a business entity for violating the consumer protection law, promulgated by royal decree No: 66/2014, for dealing in adulterated and hazardous and products not fit for human consumption, and imposed a fine amounting to OMR 20,000, imprisonment for six months, seizure and destruction of confiscated materials and permanently suspend its activity.
The Directorate General for Consumer Protection in Al Batina North Governorate is continuing its awareness campaign in rural areas, aiming at enhancing awareness and implanting consumption culture amongst various communities.
Consumer Protection Al Batina North organized the “Young Consumer” lecture at Al Hambar School for Basic Education, Wilayat of Sohar, within its awareness programme aiming to disseminate rational consumption culture through concepts ingrained in the students’ heart, to be the methodology to protect them form the hazards threatening their health.
Consumer protection recently managed to replace a vehicle with a new one after the consumer noticed traces of paint in her new car that she purchased from a local car dealer.
