PACP received about OMR 89 thousand in fines last year

The total value of the fines imposed on the violating suppliers and traders in favor of consumer protection was OMR 88.705 in 2012: OMR 25.535 in Muscat, Sharqiyyah South OMR 11.750, Dakhiliyyah OMR 11.000, Buraimi OMR 10.710, Dhahirah OMR 9.200, and Sharqiyyah North OMR 8.600.

PACP destroys 180 kg of tobacco in Dhofar

As a part of its continuous inspection campaigns, Consumer Protection administration in Dhofar Governorate seized 180 kg of chewed tobacco as well as tobacco that does not meet the required specifications and standards sold covertly in some small shops. Immediately after seizing those quantities, seizure reports were written against the offenders and the seized amounts were withdrawn then destroyed.

Two-month imprisonment and OR two-hundred fine against the manager a dairy company in Dakhiliyyah

The Primary Court in Nizwa (Criminal Panel) recently ruled in a case referred by Consumer Protection administration in Dakhiliyyah Governorate. It judged for two-month imprisonment and a fine of OMR two hundred against a sales manager at one of the dairy companies in Dakhiliyyah for violating the Law of Consumer Protection No. 81/2002 and Omani Penal Code No. 7/74.

Judicial officers at the Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP) managed to discover a number of irregularities in Muscat, notably a building materials shop selling liquor in Mawaleh South, in addition to other irregularities. The Authority received a complaint from a consumer complaining that one building material shop was selling alcohol and intoxicants.

As part of the efforts of the Consumer Protection administration at Barka, in Batinah South to control and reduce trade operations, it managed recently through periodic inspection drives done by its judicial officers to discover a shop that that committed commercial fraud in selling cement and referred it to the public prosecution.

 No one imagined that greed and deviousness would reach such a staggering level that thought exist only in movies and investigative drama shows , yet it became a stark reality when some merchants sought to make a profit on the account of health and safety of the young and adults alike utilizing the God-given intellect that they posses into destruction and evil instead of serving public good , the devious plan used ( Back to school ) season by carving holes inside books and hiding chewing tobacco inside in away from the inspectors notice targeting the younger generation with these destructive materials that effect the health , mind and safety of our kids .
 The Judicial officers noticed that consumers come very frequently to a specific shop during one of the inspection tours which raised their suspicions to strengthening the monitoring and follow up on that matter , students were spotted in the shop as well , the Officers expediently intervened to inspect the shop , the inspection did not reveal anything at first , however , the officers noticed a stack of books and decided to inspect it , surprisingly , they found more than 600 pouches of chewing tobacco on its way to be sold and distributed on consumers and students , the officers immediately issued a violation and referred the case to the General Prosecution to deal with the matter as per the Law
