‏“Know Your Rights to Protect You” Campaign visits a number of government and military institutions in Al Rustaq

The Department of Consumer Protection in South Batinah has launched an awareness campaign entitled "Know Your Rights to Protect You" for the governmental and security institutions of the geographical scope of the Department, in order to familiarize them with the Authority's competences and consumer protection law and its executive regulations and to spread safe consumer awareness culture.

 

 

The campaign was launched in the General Directorate of Manpower in South Batinah governorate with a paper presented by Salem bin Mohammed Al-Abri, acting director of the department, in which he addressed a number of axes such as the introduction to the Authority and its objectives and explanation of some articles of the Consumer Protection Law and its executive regulations. He also recognized the eight consumer rights and the roles assigned to the Authority and its efforts to protect the consumers and preserve their rights and create a balance in the markets by presenting some of the seizures seized by the Authority and the recent recalls for some goods and vehicles. He also explained the mechanism of receiving complaints and communications and how to solve them, and provided some tips that concern the consumer, such as keeping the purchase bill and not to walk behind the discounts and offers, especially with the approach of the holy month of Ramadan. He also warned against dealing with unreliable institutions that deal with consumers without proofs or guarantees. In conclusion, he introduced a number of decisions issued by the Chairman of the Authority on the prohibition of the circulation of some goods. The working paper included an awareness exhibition of some goods in violation of the Consumer Protection Law and the exhibition of some original and counterfeit goods.
The implementation of this campaign is part of the department's keenness to create a community partnership with various government and military institutions within the framework of cooperation between governmental and service institutions in the development of the society's members in order to achieve the awareness goals of the Public Authority for Consumer Protection and its keenness to reduce the consumer problems caused during the purchase process.

 No one imagined that greed and deviousness would reach such a staggering level that thought exist only in movies and investigative drama shows , yet it became a stark reality when some merchants sought to make a profit on the account of health and safety of the young and adults alike utilizing the God-given intellect that they posses into destruction and evil instead of serving public good , the devious plan used ( Back to school ) season by carving holes inside books and hiding chewing tobacco inside in away from the inspectors notice targeting the younger generation with these destructive materials that effect the health , mind and safety of our kids .
 The Judicial officers noticed that consumers come very frequently to a specific shop during one of the inspection tours which raised their suspicions to strengthening the monitoring and follow up on that matter , students were spotted in the shop as well , the Officers expediently intervened to inspect the shop , the inspection did not reveal anything at first , however , the officers noticed a stack of books and decided to inspect it , surprisingly , they found more than 600 pouches of chewing tobacco on its way to be sold and distributed on consumers and students , the officers immediately issued a violation and referred the case to the General Prosecution to deal with the matter as per the Law
