6 months imprisonment suspended sentence for the manipulator to prices

A primer court order has been sentenced for an Indian nationality defendant convicted the price manipulation and the violation of the consumer protection law. He was sentenced to prison for six months with a fine of fifty riyals for violating Article (295) of the Omani Penal Law and stop the penalty of imprisonment and fined also one thousand riyal, because of his violation of consumer protection law according to Article (21).

 

 The same court also fined the same defendant (500) Real according to the lack price situation on goods on a significant way to the consumer.

The main fact of the cases was when the Department of Consumer Protection in AL Daherah province received several complaints from consumers about a bakery which manipulated the prices of its products in an exaggerated way contrary to the countrys laws and regulations. He also intended not to put prices on his products in order to change from time to time in an exaggerated way and thus harm the interests of consumers.

On receipt of these reports the necessary steps has been made where the judicial commissioners moved to have the suspension shall to adjust the said person in flagrante delicto. After the investigation and collection of evidence and questioning the defendant, the Department of Consumer Protection in AL Daherah province transmit the defendant to the Public Prosecution. Also it followed the two cases after referring them by the Public Prosecution to the corridors of the court for a penalty as a deterrent of the defendant, and others who do not take into account the interests of consumers.

The Authority reminds all suppliers to taken into account the interests of consumers and their rights under all laws and regulations.

 No one imagined that greed and deviousness would reach such a staggering level that thought exist only in movies and investigative drama shows , yet it became a stark reality when some merchants sought to make a profit on the account of health and safety of the young and adults alike utilizing the God-given intellect that they posses into destruction and evil instead of serving public good , the devious plan used ( Back to school ) season by carving holes inside books and hiding chewing tobacco inside in away from the inspectors notice targeting the younger generation with these destructive materials that effect the health , mind and safety of our kids .
 The Judicial officers noticed that consumers come very frequently to a specific shop during one of the inspection tours which raised their suspicions to strengthening the monitoring and follow up on that matter , students were spotted in the shop as well , the Officers expediently intervened to inspect the shop , the inspection did not reveal anything at first , however , the officers noticed a stack of books and decided to inspect it , surprisingly , they found more than 600 pouches of chewing tobacco on its way to be sold and distributed on consumers and students , the officers immediately issued a violation and referred the case to the General Prosecution to deal with the matter as per the Law
