As a part of its awareness campaign for school students Consumer Protection in Seeb provides number of awareness lectures


  The Consumer Protection Department of Seeb has recently organized awareness lectures in a number of state schools to instill safe consumer culture among students, as part of the Public Authority for Consumer Protection awareness plan to enhance consumer awareness of all segments of society.


The lectures were presented by Najla Al-Khalili, Head of the Media Department by secondment, during which she addressed a number of topics. Al-Khalilia presented a lecture on "Chewed Tobacco and its Harms on Consumer Health" at Umm Saad Al-Ansariya School for Basic Education. In which she discussed number of axes, including the introduction of tobacco damage, its danger to the health of individuals, and its negative effects socially and economically, She also pointed out the efforts of the World Health Organization to curb the spread of tobacco, the Sultanate's role in tobacco control in general, and the efforts of the Public Authority for Consumer Protection in particular.


On the other hand, Al-Khalilia presented an awareness lecture to students of Al-Mahamid School for Basic Education entitled "The Little Consumer", which included introducing the Public Authority for Consumer Protection, its role in protecting the consumer, its efforts to preserve all consumers rights and ensure the quality of goods and services in local markets.  The lecture also carried out a number of educational and Leisure activities to provide a simplified explanation of consumer culture, consumer rights and duties. Some leisure games that develop students' consumer culture were also played, and the lecture included showing awareness films for the little consumer.


 No one imagined that greed and deviousness would reach such a staggering level that thought exist only in movies and investigative drama shows , yet it became a stark reality when some merchants sought to make a profit on the account of health and safety of the young and adults alike utilizing the God-given intellect that they posses into destruction and evil instead of serving public good , the devious plan used ( Back to school ) season by carving holes inside books and hiding chewing tobacco inside in away from the inspectors notice targeting the younger generation with these destructive materials that effect the health , mind and safety of our kids .
 The Judicial officers noticed that consumers come very frequently to a specific shop during one of the inspection tours which raised their suspicions to strengthening the monitoring and follow up on that matter , students were spotted in the shop as well , the Officers expediently intervened to inspect the shop , the inspection did not reveal anything at first , however , the officers noticed a stack of books and decided to inspect it , surprisingly , they found more than 600 pouches of chewing tobacco on its way to be sold and distributed on consumers and students , the officers immediately issued a violation and referred the case to the General Prosecution to deal with the matter as per the Law
