As part of the youth summer activities Consumer Protection in the North Batinah participates in the youth camp clubs for girls 2019


The General Directorate for Consumer Protection in North Batinah Governorate


has recently participated in the camp of the clubs' girls at the Sports Complex in Sohar organized by the Ministry of Sports Affairs under the auspices of Asma bint Mohammed bin Salem Al Futtaisi, head of the businesswomen committee at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Oman in North Batinah governorate. The aim of this participation is to enrich consumer awareness and disseminate consumer culture in the community and in cooperation with other sectors.

The participation of the Directorate was represented in an awareness exhibition that included models of some forged and counterfeit goods, prohibited goods as well as goods contravening specifications and standards. Participants were also introduced to distinguish between original and counterfeit goods and urged them to avoid misleading advertisements so as not to become victims of illegal practices. A number of guidance and awareness publications have been distributed in order to instill a healthy consumer culture among consumers and provide a range of advice that will contribute to the preservation of their rights, including not rushing to buy the item of unknown origin, and not to trust the verbal cards and be careful to be written and documented, and keep the purchase bill, especially for long-term goods, and the consumer must examine the item well and make sure it is safe before leaving the place.

The Directorate seeks continuous presence in such events and programs to achieve the mission of the Authority in spreading awareness, education and consumer awareness among consumers.


 No one imagined that greed and deviousness would reach such a staggering level that thought exist only in movies and investigative drama shows , yet it became a stark reality when some merchants sought to make a profit on the account of health and safety of the young and adults alike utilizing the God-given intellect that they posses into destruction and evil instead of serving public good , the devious plan used ( Back to school ) season by carving holes inside books and hiding chewing tobacco inside in away from the inspectors notice targeting the younger generation with these destructive materials that effect the health , mind and safety of our kids .
 The Judicial officers noticed that consumers come very frequently to a specific shop during one of the inspection tours which raised their suspicions to strengthening the monitoring and follow up on that matter , students were spotted in the shop as well , the Officers expediently intervened to inspect the shop , the inspection did not reveal anything at first , however , the officers noticed a stack of books and decided to inspect it , surprisingly , they found more than 600 pouches of chewing tobacco on its way to be sold and distributed on consumers and students , the officers immediately issued a violation and referred the case to the General Prosecution to deal with the matter as per the Law
