Food safety is everybody’s responsibility Consumer Protection participates in the Food Safety Week

Consumer Protection Al Batinah North recently participated in the closing ceremony of the Food Safety Week in the Wilayat of Suwaiq, organized by the D. G. of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources, under the auspice of H. E. Dr. Said Khamis Al Ka’abi, chairman of PACP.

 

The participation was in the form of an exhibition with samples of counterfeited, fake and original goods, and restricted and prohibited goods, with an awareness play and two lectures on meat and food safety introducing the importance of developing food control and training the market inspectors on the latest methods of control to verify the quality and adopted standards, promoting the efficiency of food laboratories, encouraging the food industries to increase the food quality, and controlling chemical fertilizers and pesticides and determine their ratios.
The participation included an introduction to PACP website and awareness programmes and applications, with an exhibition and awareness lectures in the wilayats of Liwa and Al Khaboura.
Several awareness books, leaflets and publications were distributed to the exhibition visitors, and introduction to the joint efforts between Consumer Protection and MRMWR to form the best joint protection for the consumers.
On the other hand, Consumer Protection Diba and Ibra recently participated in the Food Safety Week exhibition, organized by MRMWR, and in Diba the participation was in the form of an exhibition to introduce the work mechanism to control foodstuff storage and safety in the markets, and an introduction to the Gulf Wek theme 2017 “Safe online shopping”, and an explanation of the e-shopping mechanism to preserve the consumer rights and a brief introduction to the consumer protection law and its executive bylaws.
Consumer Protection Sharqiya North also participated in several activities within the Food Safety Week, with two lectures on food safety in Samad Al-Shan and Al-Taeiin, with several concepts on food safety, the hazards and risks of spoiled food, the elements causing food decay and indications on food spoilage, and also participated with an exhibition for original and counterfeited goods, and goods taken from the markets.
Also participated in panel discussion, organized by Ibra Municipality in cooperation with A'Sharqiyah University, on food safety and the procedures of PACP to ensure food safety.

 No one imagined that greed and deviousness would reach such a staggering level that thought exist only in movies and investigative drama shows , yet it became a stark reality when some merchants sought to make a profit on the account of health and safety of the young and adults alike utilizing the God-given intellect that they posses into destruction and evil instead of serving public good , the devious plan used ( Back to school ) season by carving holes inside books and hiding chewing tobacco inside in away from the inspectors notice targeting the younger generation with these destructive materials that effect the health , mind and safety of our kids .
 The Judicial officers noticed that consumers come very frequently to a specific shop during one of the inspection tours which raised their suspicions to strengthening the monitoring and follow up on that matter , students were spotted in the shop as well , the Officers expediently intervened to inspect the shop , the inspection did not reveal anything at first , however , the officers noticed a stack of books and decided to inspect it , surprisingly , they found more than 600 pouches of chewing tobacco on its way to be sold and distributed on consumers and students , the officers immediately issued a violation and referred the case to the General Prosecution to deal with the matter as per the Law
