For the possibility of entering grains of sand into the transmission Recall for a number of Honda Accord 2018-2019 models

26/11/2019

The Public Authority for Consumer Protection in cooperation with Oman Marketing and Services Company has launched a recall campaign for 1131 Honda Accord 2018-2019 cars. 470 Honda Accord 2018 models were recalled based on chassis numbers from (1HGCV161XJA600848) to (1HGCV1617JA611581), and (1HGCV1636JA600086) to (1HGCV1630JA609236), and (1HGCV1665JA600042) to (1HGCV1669JA611688). In addition, 661 Accord 2019 models were recalled depending on chassis numbers (1HGCV161XKA600088) to (1HGCV1617KA604826), (1HGCV1642KA600001) to (1HGCV1647KA605209), and (1HGCV1663KA600154) to (1HGCV1666KA604974).

This recall comes because of the possibility of the entry of sand grains into the transmission, while driving at high speeds or continuously or in the presence of a sandstorm. It may generate negative pressure on the center of the transmission or torque converter area, resulting in oil leakage from the transmission, disrupting the hydraulic control system in the transmission system and preventing the vehicle from moving. Accordingly, the company will check the oil leakage from the transmission, if any evidence of leakage, it will replace the oil locking belt, transmission oil or transmission (if damaged internally only) or replace the TC case cover and FIPG application case on the engine oil container.

The recalls underscore the Authority's efforts in the field of traffic safety in cooperation with automotive agencies, to preserve the lives and safety of consumers and provide the necessary protection for consumers, in line with its keenness to conduct continuous reviews of all products in the Sultanate’s market.
