The Consumer Protection Department in Ibra has organized an awareness campaign entitled “Hand in hand for a conscious consumer” for students of Al-Thabiti School for Basic Education in the framework of the Public Authority for Consumer Protection to contribute to the creation of a generation aware of its values, recognizing the laws that regulate his life, gaining the positive consumer culture that enables him to be a rational consumer. This comes in in the framework of enhancing joint cooperation with various governmental and private institutions in order to support and promote everything that would serve the country.
The Department participated with an awareness exhibition that included samples of seized, forged, expired and counterfeit goods that were withdrawn from the market. Consumer rights in the law were also introduced, including the right to education, the right to listen to opinions, the right to safety, and the right to know and get an invoice in Arabic. It also referred to the most important duties that must be followed by the consumer during the purchase such as checking the commodity before buying, and to ensure the date of validity, and its contents as well as advertising and the accompanying misleading consumer.
In addition, the Consumer Protection Department in North Sharqiyah Governorate implemented an awareness program for the small consumer at Al-Hamm School for Basic Education in the Wilayat of Bidiya. It aimed to educate the school students and raise their cultural and knowledge level and acquire them with some correct consumer skills such as writing lists of purchases, the importance of reading the dates of production and expiration, and acquiring the purchase invoice, and the method of food preservation and other issues and awareness topics. The eight consumer rights were also introduced.
