Judicial rulings permanently shutting down a labor recruitment agency in Ad Dakhiliyah Governorate with fines amounting to 900 OMR

The Primary Court in Bahla State issued nine rulings against a labor recruitment agency for violating the Consumer Protection Law promulgated by Royal Decree No. 66/2014. a conviction ruling was issued against the agency and financial penalties totaling 900 Rial Omani, with the second suspect being obliged to pay the civil rights claimants amounts totaling (1550) Rial Omani and closing the office permanently.

 

The facts summarize that the Consumer Protection Department in the Dakhiliyah Governorate received a set of complaints from a number of consumers in which they stated that they had agreed with one of the labor recruitment agencies in the state of Bahla to bring in domestic workers, and they paid in advance. It was agreed that the workers would arrive within a few weeks, but the office did not adhere to what was agreed upon and took consumers to procure the workers or return the sums paid, which prompted consumers to submit their complaints to the administration. Where it took the necessary measures and referred it to the Public Prosecution Department in the state of Bahla, who initiated the investigation, and then referred it to the competent court that issued the judgments of convicting the defendant of a misdemeanor of non-compliance with the proper service or refunding its value, and was fined for the public right (100) Omani riyals in each case and closure of the establishment permanently, and incurring legal expenses on it and paying the civil claimants the amounts owed to them.

It is worth noting that the office was previously convicted in several similar cases, and a judgment was issued against the temporary closure, and some cases are still being discussed with the competent authorities.

 No one imagined that greed and deviousness would reach such a staggering level that thought exist only in movies and investigative drama shows , yet it became a stark reality when some merchants sought to make a profit on the account of health and safety of the young and adults alike utilizing the God-given intellect that they posses into destruction and evil instead of serving public good , the devious plan used ( Back to school ) season by carving holes inside books and hiding chewing tobacco inside in away from the inspectors notice targeting the younger generation with these destructive materials that effect the health , mind and safety of our kids .
 The Judicial officers noticed that consumers come very frequently to a specific shop during one of the inspection tours which raised their suspicions to strengthening the monitoring and follow up on that matter , students were spotted in the shop as well , the Officers expediently intervened to inspect the shop , the inspection did not reveal anything at first , however , the officers noticed a stack of books and decided to inspect it , surprisingly , they found more than 600 pouches of chewing tobacco on its way to be sold and distributed on consumers and students , the officers immediately issued a violation and referred the case to the General Prosecution to deal with the matter as per the Law
