PACP calls for more competitive market


Within efforts done by Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP) to control prices of goods and services and regulate the local market in order to reduce counterfeit goods and products in addition to these goods that damage health, safety and environment; and through the continual communication of PACP with companies and corporates in the Sultanate to achieve these goals and aims, Mohsen Haider Darwish Group (MHDG) has stepped a bold, pioneering and unprecedented step recently. MHDG, after consultations with PACP, has reduced the prices of spare parts for all vehicles that the group is its sole agent and distributer in the Sultanate, by 35%.


Based on PACP follow up and the statements delivered by MHDG administration, this move supported customer confidence, raised sales of spare parts to high level comparing to pre- reduction level and increased customer base from outside the

Sultanate. PACP said that the move helped reduce the flow of spare parts from neighboring countries and decreasing burdens on the shoulders on consumers by offering original spare parts by affordable prices.

PACP valued this move taken by MHDG and called for the other companies of different activities operating in the Sultanate to do the same. PACP confirmed that coordination and consultancy with corporates and companies in addition to consumer lead to establishing encouraging and competitive environment for business in the Sultanate that pushes forward the national economy of Oman.

First Instance Court of Ibra, in the governorate of al Sharqia North, has issued its ruling denouncing a defendant who found guilty on charges of selling a defective vehicle and violating consumer rights based on Article (11) of Consumer Protection Law.


 No one imagined that greed and deviousness would reach such a staggering level that thought exist only in movies and investigative drama shows , yet it became a stark reality when some merchants sought to make a profit on the account of health and safety of the young and adults alike utilizing the God-given intellect that they posses into destruction and evil instead of serving public good , the devious plan used ( Back to school ) season by carving holes inside books and hiding chewing tobacco inside in away from the inspectors notice targeting the younger generation with these destructive materials that effect the health , mind and safety of our kids .
 The Judicial officers noticed that consumers come very frequently to a specific shop during one of the inspection tours which raised their suspicions to strengthening the monitoring and follow up on that matter , students were spotted in the shop as well , the Officers expediently intervened to inspect the shop , the inspection did not reveal anything at first , however , the officers noticed a stack of books and decided to inspect it , surprisingly , they found more than 600 pouches of chewing tobacco on its way to be sold and distributed on consumers and students , the officers immediately issued a violation and referred the case to the General Prosecution to deal with the matter as per the Law
