The Authority participates in the educational day at Al Jiwif School for Basic Education


The Consumer Protection Department in Al Buraimi has participated in the educational day at Al Jiwif School of Basic Education in order to instill a safe consumer culture among young consumers. This participation comes within the framework of the cooperation between the governmental institutions to deliver their awareness messages.


 The administration's participation represented in the execution of an awareness lecture presented by Fatma Al-Kaabi, statistics specialist, in which she introduced the consumer rights approved by the Consumer Protection Law, and the importance of the purchase invoice and warranty certificates in the case of purchasing electrical appliances and the necessity of requesting them because they guarantee the consumer right to exchange. She also provides a number of tips that help the young consumers to shop smartly, such as the importance of writing a shopping list, setting a budget limit. She also showed the need to take enough time to choose the right commodity compared to the price and examine the commodity and ensure its safety before buying, in addition, to verify the date of validity, and contents before leaving the shop.


 In the same context, Ghalia Al-Saffa introduced the importance of reading the consumer codes listed under the food portfolios, in addition to the necessity of reading the food labels, emphasizing the importance of pre-purchasing and non-compliance with the reductions so that the consumer does not fall victim to misleading advertisements.


 No one imagined that greed and deviousness would reach such a staggering level that thought exist only in movies and investigative drama shows , yet it became a stark reality when some merchants sought to make a profit on the account of health and safety of the young and adults alike utilizing the God-given intellect that they posses into destruction and evil instead of serving public good , the devious plan used ( Back to school ) season by carving holes inside books and hiding chewing tobacco inside in away from the inspectors notice targeting the younger generation with these destructive materials that effect the health , mind and safety of our kids .
 The Judicial officers noticed that consumers come very frequently to a specific shop during one of the inspection tours which raised their suspicions to strengthening the monitoring and follow up on that matter , students were spotted in the shop as well , the Officers expediently intervened to inspect the shop , the inspection did not reveal anything at first , however , the officers noticed a stack of books and decided to inspect it , surprisingly , they found more than 600 pouches of chewing tobacco on its way to be sold and distributed on consumers and students , the officers immediately issued a violation and referred the case to the General Prosecution to deal with the matter as per the Law
