To develop the skills of its employees Consumer Protection in Sohar organizes training program on strategic management and preparation of operational plans for performance development

The Directorate General of Consumer Protection in Al Batinah North Governorate has recently organized a training program entitled “Strategic Management and Preparation of Operational Plans for Performance Improvement” for a number of employees of the Directorate that lasted for two days at the Royal Gardens Hotel in Suhar. The program aimed to develop participants' knowledge of how to prepare action plans in order to develop their planning skills and achieve goals and other business requirements.

 

The paper, which was presented by Ruqiyah Al Wahaibi, covered three main axes. In the first axis, she defined the concept of the plan of action, and its purpose, as well as how to prepare and set goals in it. She also addressed the phases and steps of follow-up of the implementation of the action plans and models used in addition to the definition of the main functions of the Department, which include planning, organization, control, guidance, leadership, motivation and communication, and the introduction of traditional and modern approaches in the preparation of action plans, in addition to reviewing how to write a vision and mission in a scientific manner and identify strategic work units.

 

In the second section, she discussed the development of the participants' knowledge regarding the use of the balanced scorecard, introducing them to the skills of planning, achieving the goals and the implementation steps, in addition to establishing successful programs and plans of action, knowing how to define a specific criterion for achieving the goals and how to measure them, identifying the main areas of work and allocation of tasks as well as developing the skills and experience of participants in how to overcome resistance to change and its strategies. She also addressed the flexibility of the plan and taking into account the changes in the internal and external reality.

 

In the last section, she discussed the impact of new global variables on planning, in addition to the causes and classification of crises and management approaches, as well as strengthening the leadership skills of participants, training them in decision-making, and effective communication with subordinates and superiors. She also trained them how to manage time effectively, how to manage work stress and solve different problems.

 

This training program comes within a series of training programs implemented by the Directorate with the aim of developing and enhancing behavioral skills in administrative development, the development of strategic planning skills, the development of policies, follow-up and control of strategic programs and decision-making.

 No one imagined that greed and deviousness would reach such a staggering level that thought exist only in movies and investigative drama shows , yet it became a stark reality when some merchants sought to make a profit on the account of health and safety of the young and adults alike utilizing the God-given intellect that they posses into destruction and evil instead of serving public good , the devious plan used ( Back to school ) season by carving holes inside books and hiding chewing tobacco inside in away from the inspectors notice targeting the younger generation with these destructive materials that effect the health , mind and safety of our kids .
 The Judicial officers noticed that consumers come very frequently to a specific shop during one of the inspection tours which raised their suspicions to strengthening the monitoring and follow up on that matter , students were spotted in the shop as well , the Officers expediently intervened to inspect the shop , the inspection did not reveal anything at first , however , the officers noticed a stack of books and decided to inspect it , surprisingly , they found more than 600 pouches of chewing tobacco on its way to be sold and distributed on consumers and students , the officers immediately issued a violation and referred the case to the General Prosecution to deal with the matter as per the Law
