To improve the working environment and performance “Consumer Protection” at Suhar launches “Lean” approach

The General Directorate for Consumer Protection in North Batinah Governorate

 

, represented by the Department of Studies and Development, has recently launched the systematic initiative “Lean” under the patronage of Abdulrahman bin Salem Al-Qasimi, Director General of the Directorate, in the presence of a number of officials and employees. The initiative comes as part of its plans to develop and improve the working environment and improve institutional performance.

At the beginning of the ceremony, Mahmoud bin Saeed Al-Mamari, Director of the Department of Studies and Development, addressed the activities of the Directorate in particular and the Public Authority for Consumer Protection in general, from a remarkable effort and keen interest in encouraging initiatives at the community and institutional levels. He also pointed to the importance of applying the Lean development tool to improve the work environment in line with the world's acceleration of qualitative development in the institutional work. Then the Director General of the Directorate, patron of the event, launched the initiative.

The ceremony included a lecture on the initiative presented by Mariam bint Ibrahim Al-Mutawa, which dealt with a number of topics including definition of methodology, history, objectives and mechanism of application, and tools to identify the problem and patterns and skills associated with them, as well as definition of types of waste according to the methodology of transport, storage, movement, waiting, excess production, excess procedures and the defects with examples derived from the work of the Directorate.

Al-Mutawa pointed out that the main objective of Lean's tool is to make continuous improvement in the work to achieve more achievement with less resources and effort. She explained that Lean's methodology differed from other development tools because its improvement of the nature of work is not a sudden but a gradual improvement and its purpose is not only to reach the goal but to achieve the best permanently and continuously.

This initiative comes within the framework of several initiatives organized by the Directorate which contribute to the development and improvement of community and institutional work.

 No one imagined that greed and deviousness would reach such a staggering level that thought exist only in movies and investigative drama shows , yet it became a stark reality when some merchants sought to make a profit on the account of health and safety of the young and adults alike utilizing the God-given intellect that they posses into destruction and evil instead of serving public good , the devious plan used ( Back to school ) season by carving holes inside books and hiding chewing tobacco inside in away from the inspectors notice targeting the younger generation with these destructive materials that effect the health , mind and safety of our kids .
 The Judicial officers noticed that consumers come very frequently to a specific shop during one of the inspection tours which raised their suspicions to strengthening the monitoring and follow up on that matter , students were spotted in the shop as well , the Officers expediently intervened to inspect the shop , the inspection did not reveal anything at first , however , the officers noticed a stack of books and decided to inspect it , surprisingly , they found more than 600 pouches of chewing tobacco on its way to be sold and distributed on consumers and students , the officers immediately issued a violation and referred the case to the General Prosecution to deal with the matter as per the Law
