The First Instance Court in Buraimi has recently issued a judicial ruling against an institution for breaching the Consumer Protection Law, in which it was to imprisonment, a fine and a two-month closure, in addition to publishing the summary of the judgment.

 

 

The details of the case started when the Consumer Protection Department of Al Buraimi Governorate received a complaint from a consumer stating that he had contracted with a labor recruitment office to provide a domestic worker. But after working for a month, he noticed that she was suffering from a medical condition and returned her to the office, where it was agreed to refund the value of service to him. However, the office did not commit to return the agreed amount, which prompted him to file his complaint. Accordingly, the Department has taken all the procedures followed in such cases, where the complaint has been examined. After completing the legal proceedings, the case was referred to the Public Prosecution Department. In an investigation with the representative of the suspect, he pleaded guilty and was subsequently referred to the court.
The court convicted the defendant of failing to provide the customer with the proper service because he refused to refund the value of the service during the guarantee period. The court sentenced him to one month's imprisonment and a fine of OMR 100 and to oblige him to pay the plaintiff an amount of OMR 1,410 with the publication of the ruling in two widely circulated daily newspapers, one of which in Arabic at the expense of the condemned, and the closure of the shop for two months from the date of the ruling, and the obligation to pay the expenses.

 No one imagined that greed and deviousness would reach such a staggering level that thought exist only in movies and investigative drama shows , yet it became a stark reality when some merchants sought to make a profit on the account of health and safety of the young and adults alike utilizing the God-given intellect that they posses into destruction and evil instead of serving public good , the devious plan used ( Back to school ) season by carving holes inside books and hiding chewing tobacco inside in away from the inspectors notice targeting the younger generation with these destructive materials that effect the health , mind and safety of our kids .
 The Judicial officers noticed that consumers come very frequently to a specific shop during one of the inspection tours which raised their suspicions to strengthening the monitoring and follow up on that matter , students were spotted in the shop as well , the Officers expediently intervened to inspect the shop , the inspection did not reveal anything at first , however , the officers noticed a stack of books and decided to inspect it , surprisingly , they found more than 600 pouches of chewing tobacco on its way to be sold and distributed on consumers and students , the officers immediately issued a violation and referred the case to the General Prosecution to deal with the matter as per the Law
