Awareness lecture at Mohammed bin Saleh Al-Montafiqi for Basic Education School in Khasab

The Department of Consumer Protection in Khasab has recently organized an awareness lecture at Mohammed bin Saleh Al-Montafiqi School for Basic Education entitled “Consumer Rights and Duties” targeting the administrators and teachers and aimed at spreading the culture of consumer awareness among the segments of society.

 

The lecture was delivered by Mohammed bin Alat Al-Dhahouri, Director of Consumer Protection Department in Khasab, in which he discussed a number of topics such as introducing the Authority and its objectives and explaining some articles of the Consumer Protection Law and its executive regulations. He also introduced the eight consumer rights and the roles assigned to the Authority and its efforts to protect the consumer and preserve its rights and create a balance in the markets through the presentation of some seizures seized by the Authority and recent recalls of some goods and vehicles. He also explained the mechanism of receiving complaints and communications and how to be resolved. He also provided some advice to the consumer, such as keeping the purchase invoice and not being driven behind the discounts. He also warned against dealing with unreliable institutions dealing with the consumer without proof or guarantees. In conclusion, Al-Dhahouri introduced a number of decisions issued by the Chairman of the Authority regarding the prohibition of the circulation of certain commodities.

 No one imagined that greed and deviousness would reach such a staggering level that thought exist only in movies and investigative drama shows , yet it became a stark reality when some merchants sought to make a profit on the account of health and safety of the young and adults alike utilizing the God-given intellect that they posses into destruction and evil instead of serving public good , the devious plan used ( Back to school ) season by carving holes inside books and hiding chewing tobacco inside in away from the inspectors notice targeting the younger generation with these destructive materials that effect the health , mind and safety of our kids .
 The Judicial officers noticed that consumers come very frequently to a specific shop during one of the inspection tours which raised their suspicions to strengthening the monitoring and follow up on that matter , students were spotted in the shop as well , the Officers expediently intervened to inspect the shop , the inspection did not reveal anything at first , however , the officers noticed a stack of books and decided to inspect it , surprisingly , they found more than 600 pouches of chewing tobacco on its way to be sold and distributed on consumers and students , the officers immediately issued a violation and referred the case to the General Prosecution to deal with the matter as per the Law
