Through amicable settlement Replacement of an engine in Sharqiya South

Consumer Protection Sharqiya South recently concluded an amicable settlement between a consumer and car agency, and it was agreed to replace the vehicle engine with a new engine, and provide a temporary replacement vehicle for the consumer during the repair period.

 

It started when Consumer Protection received a complaint from a consumer stating that he purchase a vehicle from a car agency in the governorate, and after using it for two months he noticed a technical fault while he was in UAE, and immediately went to a car agency there. The vehicle was inspected and the engine problem was discovered, the agency also stated that the vehicle is out of warrantee. Following his return he reported to the agency in Jalan Bu Ali and he was told that they don’t have a technician to inspect the vehicle, and then he went to the agency branch in Sur where the vehicle stayed for a long time. The consumer requested replacement of the engine and provision of another vehicle as compensation while the vehicle in the workshop. Accordingly, the directorate took the procedures required and discussed the complaint with the agency which expressed its desire to cooperate and settle the complaint, thus a solution was reached to replace the engine with a new one valued at OMR 4,500 and a temporary vehicle for 36 days as compensation for keeping the vehicle with an estimated rental value of OMR 540.

 No one imagined that greed and deviousness would reach such a staggering level that thought exist only in movies and investigative drama shows , yet it became a stark reality when some merchants sought to make a profit on the account of health and safety of the young and adults alike utilizing the God-given intellect that they posses into destruction and evil instead of serving public good , the devious plan used ( Back to school ) season by carving holes inside books and hiding chewing tobacco inside in away from the inspectors notice targeting the younger generation with these destructive materials that effect the health , mind and safety of our kids .
 The Judicial officers noticed that consumers come very frequently to a specific shop during one of the inspection tours which raised their suspicions to strengthening the monitoring and follow up on that matter , students were spotted in the shop as well , the Officers expediently intervened to inspect the shop , the inspection did not reveal anything at first , however , the officers noticed a stack of books and decided to inspect it , surprisingly , they found more than 600 pouches of chewing tobacco on its way to be sold and distributed on consumers and students , the officers immediately issued a violation and referred the case to the General Prosecution to deal with the matter as per the Law
