Coinciding with preparations for Eid Al Adha “Consumer Protection” intensifies its inspection campaigns on the Sultanate's markets in various governorates

The Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP), represented by its directorates and departments in the various governorates of the Sultanate, carries out intensive inspection campaigns on various markets and commercial centers, in line with the active commercial movement witnessed by Eid Al Adha.

 

 

Waleed bin Ali Al Rawahi, Director of Complaints Department, said that the Authority is working according to a well-thought-out plan to monitor and control the markets and control the violators in various sectors that are of direct concern to the consumer. This is due to the increase in the rate of consumers' demand for shops and shopping centers to purchase various items of clothing, goods, accessories, and so on. The various departments and departments have formed a fieldwork program for the inspection teams to operate according to the rotation system. This is necessary to ensure continuity of follow-up markets during the morning and evening periods throughout these days and the days of Eid al-Adha and thus ensure that there are no abuses that may harm consumers or violate any of their rights.

Al-Rawahi added that the teams include a number of judicial inspectors and shop inspectors to ensure the availability of the various goods and supplies needed by consumers, in addition to ensuring that there is no unjustified rise in prices. It also ensures that suppliers are keen to comply with all consumer protection laws, decisions and legislation. During the ongoing inspection campaigns, sheep and meat shops are monitored in terms of prices and the quality of the supply is checked.

Al Rawahi said that the PACP was fully prepared to receive all complaints and communications from consumers through various channels of communication, such as the Call Center, social networking sites, the website, or by personally attending complaints in the Authority's General Office or one of its branches distributed in various governorates of the Sultanate, where it will find immediate solutions and take appropriate action.

In this regard, Al-Rawahi called for the need to comply with the regulations and legislations to ensure that they are not subject to legal accountability.

 No one imagined that greed and deviousness would reach such a staggering level that thought exist only in movies and investigative drama shows , yet it became a stark reality when some merchants sought to make a profit on the account of health and safety of the young and adults alike utilizing the God-given intellect that they posses into destruction and evil instead of serving public good , the devious plan used ( Back to school ) season by carving holes inside books and hiding chewing tobacco inside in away from the inspectors notice targeting the younger generation with these destructive materials that effect the health , mind and safety of our kids .
 The Judicial officers noticed that consumers come very frequently to a specific shop during one of the inspection tours which raised their suspicions to strengthening the monitoring and follow up on that matter , students were spotted in the shop as well , the Officers expediently intervened to inspect the shop , the inspection did not reveal anything at first , however , the officers noticed a stack of books and decided to inspect it , surprisingly , they found more than 600 pouches of chewing tobacco on its way to be sold and distributed on consumers and students , the officers immediately issued a violation and referred the case to the General Prosecution to deal with the matter as per the Law
